Ordination and Installation Mass of Bishop-elect Robert Marshall
The Ordination and Installation Mass of Bishop-elect Robert W. Marshall, will take place at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. Because of the continued safety and social distancing guidelines of the diocese and state health agencies, all seats in the Cathedral have been assigned to members of the clergy, family, religious, a select number of civil officials, and members of the family of Bishop Marshall. Those who respond to this invitation will receive a ticket for admittance.
Important to the event will be two (2) lay-representatives from each parish and mission in the diocese. Those chosen will receive a ticket for admittance at the Divine Providence Center of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church, located at the corner of Elliott and 21st Streets, Alexandria. Due to restrictions because of COVID-19, parish representatives will NOT be able to attend in person at the Cathedral. A live-stream broadcast of the Mass will be presented directly from the Cathedral. The Holy Eucharist from the Ordination Mass will be distributed at the Divine Providence Center during Communion time.
Solemn Vespers
Due to very limited seating, only clergy, religious and members of the family of Bishop Marshall will be invited to attend Solemn Vespers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19.
PLEASE NOTE: The Ordination and Installation Mass at 2:00 p.m. on August 20 and Solemn Vespers at 6:00 p.m. on August 19 will be live-streamed on the Cathedral’s Facebook page, YouTube Channel and the Diocese of Alexandria website.
